The steel body and steel nose deliver consistent spring force across the plunger travel range, with an initial end force of 5.5 pounds and a final end force of 14.5 pounds. The 3/8-16 thread allows direct installation into tapped holes without additional hardware. At 1-1/8 inches in thread length and a maximum plunger diameter of 0.186 inches, this standard-length plunger fits a wide range of production and maintenance applications. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators commonly install this type of component in jigs, fixtures, and machine frames.
This spring plunger suits industrial and commercial mechanical assemblies where repeatable positioning or detent action is needed. Installation is performed by threading the plunger body into a pre-tapped 3/8-16 hole using a 3/16-inch hex key. Ensure the mating hole is clean and free of debris before threading to avoid cross-threading the steel body. Torque to the assembly requirement of the host fixture using standard hand tools — do not overtighten, as this can bottom out the plunger and restrict spring travel. Secure the assembly area and de-energize any related equipment before servicing spring plungers in active machine assemblies.
