The GIBRALTAR 43807G is a 1/4-20 UNC knurled-head thumb screw machined from 12L14 free-machining steel with a black oxide finish. It features a dog point tip and is designed for hand-tightened fastening applications where tools are not required. The 1-inch diameter knurled head provides grip surface for finger tightening, while the black oxide finish offers mild corrosion resistance and reduces surface reflectivity. Overall length is 1-13/16 inches. This fastener is commonly installed by maintenance technicians, electricians, and mechanical assemblers working on panels, enclosures, and equipment covers.
This thumb screw is suited for light industrial, commercial, and residential applications where frequent manual access is needed. Typical uses include securing access panels, electronic enclosures, junction boxes, and equipment covers that require tool-free removal. The dog point tip aids in alignment during assembly and helps prevent thread cross-engagement on mating components. The without-shoulder design allows threading directly into tapped holes or threaded inserts.
Designed as a standard 1/4-20 UNC thumb screw for use in any tapped hole or threaded insert meeting that thread specification. Meets TCMAI standards for knurled-head thumb screws.
Installation requires no tools under normal use; hand-tighten only to avoid thread damage. Power down or de-energize any equipment before accessing panels or enclosures secured by this fastener. Verify the mating tapped hole is clean and free of debris before threading. Follow applicable facility maintenance procedures and applicable codes when working inside electrical enclosures.
