The GIBRALTAR 43806G is a 12L14 steel thumb screw with a knurled head, intended for hand-tightened fastening applications in mechanical assemblies, fixtures, and equipment panels. The 1/4-20 UNC thread provides broad compatibility with standard tapped holes in industrial and trade hardware. A black oxide finish offers mild corrosion resistance and a uniform dark appearance. The dog tip and 5/32-inch tip diameter aid in locating the screw during installation without marring mating surfaces. At 0.09 pounds, this is a compact, lightweight fastener suited for frequent field adjustments without tooling.
This thumb screw is used in applications where frequent hand adjustment or removal is required, such as access panel retention, jig and fixture assemblies, and equipment enclosures across HVAC, electrical, and general mechanical trades. The 1/4-20 UNC thread standard is common in North American trade and industrial equipment. The knurled head provides a positive grip even in tight quarters or with light grease on the hands. The shoulder-less design and dog tip make it appropriate for through-hole clamping and locating point applications.
Designed as a standard 1/4-20 UNC thumb screw for use in mechanical assemblies, equipment enclosures, and fixtures requiring hand-adjustable fastening without specialized tooling.
Installation is performed by hand in any pre-tapped 1/4-20 UNC hole. No torque wrench is required, but over-tightening by hand can damage threads in soft substrates such as aluminum or plastic — thread engagement depth should be appropriate for the base material. Verify thread condition and hole alignment before installation. This fastener should not be used as a primary structural connection point in load-bearing applications.
