The GIBRALTAR 42747G is a female spherical washer machined from 12L14 case hardened steel with a black oxide finish. It is designed to provide a self-aligning bearing surface under a nut or bolt head, compensating for angular misalignment between mating surfaces in structural and mechanical assemblies. The 12L14 material grade offers good machinability and surface hardness, while the black oxide finish provides light corrosion resistance. Key dimensions include a 1-1/8 inch female inside diameter, a 2 inch female outside diameter, and a 2-3/4 inch radius. Typical installers include millwrights, ironworkers, and mechanical contractors working on structural connections, machinery mounts, and alignment-critical fastening applications.
This female spherical washer is suited for use in industrial, commercial, and heavy mechanical installations where bolt or stud alignment cannot be guaranteed to be perfectly perpendicular to the mating surface. It is used in conjunction with a corresponding male spherical washer to form a matched pair, allowing the fastener assembly to seat evenly and distribute clamping load across the joint. The 1 inch nut screw size and 2 inch nut flange diameter make it compatible with standard heavy-hex and structural fastener assemblies of that bolt diameter. Meets TCMAI fastener standards.
Designed for use with 1 inch nominal bolt or stud fastener assemblies requiring a spherical washer pair. Intended for use with a matching male spherical washer in structural, mechanical, or industrial bolted connections requiring angular alignment correction.
Installation is typically performed by millwrights, ironworkers, or mechanical contractors as part of a bolted structural or machinery assembly. Always use the female spherical washer as part of a matched male-female pair to achieve proper angular compensation. Torque the fastener assembly to the specification required by the structural design or applicable code, as spherical washers do not alter torque requirements. Inspect seating surfaces for burrs or debris before assembly to ensure proper load distribution.
