The GIBRALTAR 41508G is a standard coupling nut used to join two externally threaded fasteners along a common axis. Machined from 1117 steel and finished with a black oxide coating, this nut measures 2.25 inches overall length with a 1.4375-inch width across flats. The 7/8-9 UNC right-hand thread profile meets TCMAI standards and is suited for structural, mechanical, and equipment assembly applications. Electricians, millwrights, pipefitters, and general tradespeople install coupling nuts when extending threaded rod or connecting threaded components that a standard hex nut cannot span.
This coupling nut is a fit for light industrial, commercial, and trade-service applications where a 7/8-9 UNC threaded fastener extension is required. Typical scenarios include threaded rod splicing in unistrut and overhead support assemblies, equipment mounting, and mechanical linkage connections. The black oxide finish provides mild corrosion resistance in dry or low-moisture environments. Sold individually.
Designed for use with 7/8-9 UNC threaded rod and fasteners in standard inch-series mechanical and structural assemblies.
Installation requires a standard open-end or box wrench sized to 1.4375 inches across flats. Thread both mating fasteners into the coupling nut to equal engagement depth on each side for balanced load distribution. Ensure mating threads are clean and free of debris before assembly. No special certifications are required for installation, but follow applicable structural or mechanical codes for the specific application.
