The GIBRALTAR 40854G is an unequal double threaded stud designed for fastening applications that require different thread engagement lengths on each end. The stud features a 5/8-11 thread size with an overall length of 5 inches. One end carries a long thread of 1.75 inches for deeper engagement into a tapped hole or structural member, while the opposite end provides a short thread of 0.875 inches for nut retention. Constructed from Grade 5 carbon steel with a black oxide finish, the 40854G delivers solid mechanical strength and moderate corrosion resistance in standard service conditions. Licensed tradespeople and maintenance technicians working in mechanical, structural, or equipment assembly applications install this type of fastener.
This stud is suited for industrial and commercial fastening scenarios where two components must be joined with differing thread engagement requirements on each side. Common applications include equipment mounting, machinery assembly, and structural connections where the unequal thread lengths allow one end to anchor firmly into a fixed body while the other accepts a mating nut. The black oxide finish makes it appropriate for interior or protected environments where light corrosion resistance is sufficient.
Designed as a standard unequal double threaded stud for use in any application requiring a 5/8-11 thread form with a 5-inch overall length and Class 50 thread fit.
Installation is performed by threading the long end into a tapped hole or mating component first, then securing the assembly with a nut on the short thread end. Ensure the receiving tapped hole is clean and free of debris before driving the stud. Use calibrated torque tooling appropriate for Grade 5 fasteners and follow applicable mechanical codes for the installation environment. Do not exceed the rated load for the fastener grade and thread class.
