The GIBRALTAR 40774G is an unequal double threaded stud with a 1/2-13 thread size and a 5-inch overall length. This fastener features two threaded ends of different lengths: a long thread of 1.75 inches and a short thread of 0.75 inches, with an unthreaded shank section in between. Manufactured from Grade 5 carbon steel with a black oxide finish, it provides moderate corrosion resistance in typical indoor or sheltered installations. Thread fit is Class 5, indicating a standard tolerance suitable for most mechanical and structural fastening applications. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, electricians, and general mechanical contractors use double threaded studs when a fixed anchor point is needed on one end and a removable fastener on the other.
This stud is suited for use in HVAC equipment mounting, plumbing fixture support, electrical panel or equipment anchoring, and general trade fabrication where a stud-style fastener is required. The unequal thread lengths allow one end to be permanently set into a tapped hole or coupling while the other end accepts a nut for clamping or assembly. Applications span both residential and light commercial mechanical systems. It is sold individually per package, with a minimum order quantity of 2 units.
Designed as a standard 1/2-13 unequal double threaded stud for use in general mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trade applications requiring a stud-style fastener with Grade 5 carbon steel construction.
Installation is typically performed by licensed mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing contractors using appropriate thread engagement tools. Ensure the receiving tapped hole or coupling matches the 1/2-13 thread specification before installation. De-energize electrical equipment and shut off fluid systems before working in the area where studs are being installed or replaced. Do not exceed the rated load for the Grade 5 material grade; consult fastener load tables for the specific application.
