The GIBRALTAR 34246 is a locking knob handle plunger with a knobless threaded stud design, intended for use in indexing, positioning, and workholding applications across industrial and mechanical assemblies. This plunger features a 3/8-16 external thread with a 0.75-inch thread length and a maximum plunger diameter of 0.216 inches. The locking element engages to hold the plunger in the retracted or extended position, eliminating unintended movement under vibration or load. Initial end force is 0.75 pounds, with a final end force of 3.00 pounds. The knobless threaded stud configuration allows a custom knob or handle to be installed by the end user.
The GIBRALTAR 34246 is suited for light-duty positioning and panel-mounting applications in industrial machinery, fixtures, jigs, and enclosures. The threaded stud body threads directly into a tapped hole, making it a straightforward retrofit or original installation component. The locking plunger design is commonly selected where the plunger must stay retracted during loading or unloading of a workpiece and then re-engage without tool assistance. This part ships as a single unit and is appropriate for prototype builds, production fixtures, or direct replacement of worn plungers in existing assemblies.
Designed as a direct-install locking plunger for tapped-hole assemblies requiring a 3/8-16 threaded body and knobless stud configuration in industrial fixtures, jigs, and mechanical panels.
Installation is performed by threading the stud body into a pre-tapped 3/8-16 hole by hand or with an appropriate wrench applied to the head flats. De-energize or lock out any machinery before servicing plunger components in active fixtures. Do not exceed the rated end force when compressing the plunger, as overloading can damage the locking element. A custom or replacement knob can be threaded onto the 5/16-18 stud after the body is secured in place.
