The GIBRALTAR 34244 is a locking knob handle plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and holding applications in industrial and mechanical assemblies. It features a 1/4-20 thread size with a 0.5 inch thread length and a threaded stud (knobless) configuration. The steel plunger body carries a zinc finish for corrosion resistance. Initial end force is 0.5 pounds, with a final end force of 1.5 pounds, making it suitable for light-duty locking and retention tasks. The locking element engages to hold the plunger in the retracted or extended position, preventing unintended movement during operation. Installed by machinists, millwrights, and mechanical assembly technicians.
This plunger is used in machine tool fixtures, jigs, panel assemblies, and equipment enclosures where a compact, low-profile locking plunger is required. The knobless threaded stud design allows it to be recessed or flush-mounted where a protruding knob would interfere with adjacent components. The 0.5 inch thread length and 5/8 inch length under head make it suitable for thin-panel and shallow-boss mounting configurations common in light industrial equipment.
Designed as a standard locking plunger replacement or new-installation component for fixtures, jigs, and mechanical assemblies requiring a 1/4-20 threaded mounting with a knobless stud configuration.
Installation is performed by threading the stud into a tapped hole or mating nut plate; ensure the receiving thread is clean and free of debris before installation. Power down or de-energize any associated equipment before servicing panels or assemblies containing this plunger. Use appropriate thread-locking compound if vibration is a concern in the application. Follow applicable machine safety standards and facility lockout/tagout procedures during installation or replacement.
