The GIBRALTAR 34168 is a non-locking knob handle plunger with a threaded stud body and no knob head, designed for indexing, positioning, and workholding applications in industrial and mechanical assemblies. It features a 3/8-16 thread size with a 0.75-inch thread length and delivers an initial end force of 1.5 pounds rising to a final end force of 8 pounds. The plunger diameter reaches a maximum of 0.186 inches with a tolerance of plus 0.001 inch, and the plunger projection measures 7/32 inches (0.2188 inches). Constructed from stainless steel with a zinc finish, this plunger suits environments requiring corrosion resistance and consistent spring-loaded engagement.
The GIBRALTAR 34168 is suited for use in machine tool fixtures, panel assemblies, and equipment where a flush or recessed plunger mounting is required. The knobless threaded stud configuration allows the plunger to be installed directly into a tapped hole without an exposed head, making it practical in tight-clearance or flush-mount installations. This type of spring plunger is commonly installed by machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance mechanics working on precision equipment and industrial machinery.
Designed as a direct-install spring plunger for tapped 3/8-16 threaded holes in industrial fixtures, machine assemblies, and positioning equipment requiring non-locking spring-loaded engagement.
Installation is performed by threading the stud directly into a pre-tapped 3/8-16 hole using a hex key or appropriate tool on the stud body. Ensure the receiving hole is clean and correctly tapped to thread depth before installation. De-energize or lock out any powered equipment before servicing assemblies containing spring plungers. Do not exceed the rated final end force by over-compressing the plunger during installation or operation.
