The GIBRALTAR 12897 1 is a fixed lifting eye bolt with shoulder, designed for overhead lifting and load-securing applications in industrial and construction environments. Manufactured from Grade C-1035 forged steel, it delivers a rated lifting capacity of 2,600 pounds with a 1/2-13 thread size. The shank is fully threaded at 4.5 inches in length, providing consistent thread engagement through varying material thicknesses. The shoulder design seats flush against the mounting surface to prevent the eye from pulling into the material under load. Licensed riggers, millwrights, and maintenance mechanics are the primary installers of this hardware type.
This eye bolt is suited for fixed, in-line vertical lifting where the load is applied directly through the axis of the bolt. The shoulder provides a positive bearing surface against the work piece, making it appropriate for use in steel fabrication, machinery moving, rigging setups, and structural lifting points. It is installed through a clearance hole and secured with a nut on the opposite side. The 1/2-13 thread size fits standard fastener tooling found in most trade shops and field service kits.
Designed as a standard fixed shoulder eye bolt for use with 1/2-13 threaded hardware in overhead lifting and rigging applications where a fully threaded, shouldered eye bolt is specified.
Installation should be performed by a qualified rigger or maintenance mechanic familiar with applicable ASME B30 rigging standards. Always confirm the mounting substrate and fastener engagement provide adequate load-bearing capacity before use. This eye bolt is rated for in-line vertical loading only — angular loading reduces working load limit and requires de-rating per applicable rigging guidelines. Inspect threads and the eye for deformation or cracks before each use and remove from service if any damage is found.
