The GIBRALTAR 10639 is a press fit ball plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light detent applications in mechanical assemblies. The body measures 0.375 inches in diameter and 0.864 inches in length, with a Delrin ball measuring 0.312 inches in diameter and a maximum ball reach of 0.11 inches. The steel body features a black finish and installs without threading — press the unit directly into a drilled hole to the required depth. Initial end force is 10 pounds and final end force is 18 pounds, making it suitable for consistent, repeatable positioning under moderate load.
This ball plunger is used in industrial machinery, jigs, fixtures, tooling plates, and automation equipment where a spring-loaded detent point is needed. It is well suited for use in manufacturing and fabrication environments. The press fit design allows for fast installation in production settings where threading a hole is not practical or desirable. Trades and shops working with precision fixtures or mechanical assemblies are the primary installers.
Designed as a press fit replacement or new-installation ball plunger for mechanical assemblies, jigs, fixtures, and tooling plates requiring a 0.375 inch diameter bore.
Installation requires a drilled bore sized to accept a 0.375 inch press fit. Press the plunger body into the bore using a press or appropriate hand tool — do not hammer directly on the ball or spring mechanism. Ensure the bore depth and alignment are correct before pressing to final position, as press fit components are difficult to remove without damage. No threading or adhesive is required.
