The GIBRALTAR 10104P-G is a threaded ball plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty detent applications in mechanical assemblies and tooling fixtures. It features a 1/4-20 thread for direct installation into tapped holes and delivers a 2-pound initial end force with a 4-pound final end force. Both the body and ball are constructed from stainless steel, providing corrosion resistance in wet or chemically exposed environments. The 0.125-inch ball diameter and 0.035-inch maximum ball reach make this plunger suited for fine-tolerance positioning work. Machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians commonly install this type of component during fixture assembly or equipment maintenance.
This ball plunger is used in industrial, manufacturing, and trade-maintenance settings where repeatable positioning or soft detent action is required. Typical applications include jig and fixture construction, panel alignment, drawer slides, and light mechanical assemblies. The stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for food-service equipment, cleanroom tooling, and outdoor or humid environments where carbon steel hardware would corrode. It is sold individually and installs directly into any 1/4-20 tapped hole without additional hardware.
Designed for use in any application requiring a 1/4-20 threaded ball plunger for indexing, positioning, or detent functions in mechanical fixtures and assemblies.
Installation requires a pre-tapped 1/4-20 hole in the mating component. Thread the plunger in using an appropriate hex key or wrench rated for the fastener size, and do not overtighten, as excessive torque can damage the plunger housing or distort ball travel. Ensure the mating surface and ball are clean and free of debris before assembly to maintain consistent force output. Depressurize or de-energize any system before servicing components that incorporate this plunger.
