The GIBRALTAR 10102-G is a threaded ball plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty detent applications in mechanical assemblies. The plunger features a 10-32 threaded body machined from stainless steel, with a stainless steel ball measuring 0.093 inches in diameter. A locking element is built into the body to secure the plunger in place once installed to the desired depth. Initial end force is 1.5 pounds and final end force is 3 pounds, providing a controlled and repeatable detent action suited for precision positioning tasks.
This ball plunger is commonly used in fixtures, jigs, tooling plates, and light mechanical assemblies where repeatable part positioning or panel retention is required. The 10-32 thread size fits standard tapped holes found in aluminum, steel, and plastic fixtures. The stainless steel construction makes it suitable for environments where corrosion resistance or cleanliness standards are a consideration, including food-processing-adjacent equipment and industrial automation fixtures.
Designed as a standard 10-32 threaded ball plunger for use in tapped holes in mechanical fixtures, jigs, tooling plates, and similar light-duty positioning assemblies.
Installation is typically performed by machinists or mechanical assemblers using a standard hex key or spanner wrench sized for the plunger body. Ensure the receiving tapped hole is clean and free of debris before threading in the plunger. The built-in locking element eliminates the need for a separate jam nut but requires proper seating torque to activate retention. Do not over-torque, as this may damage the locking element or distort the thread form in softer base materials.
