The George Risk Industries M-180-B is a replacement magnet component designed for use with magnetic contact switch assemblies. This magnet pairs with a corresponding reed switch or contact housing to complete a two-part magnetic contact set, commonly used in security, access control, and door or window monitoring applications. Licensed security system installers and electricians working on low-voltage alarm circuits are the primary installers of this component. The brown finish allows it to blend with door and window frames in residential and light commercial settings.
The M-180-B is used in door and window contact installations where the magnet and switch halves are mounted separately on the door or frame. It is suited for residential security system installations as well as light commercial access monitoring. The brown color variant is selected to match common wood-tone trim and frame finishes, reducing visual impact on finished interiors.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement magnet for residential and light commercial magnetic contact switch assemblies. Verify physical dimensions and magnetic field strength against the intended contact housing before installation.
Installation is typically performed by licensed low-voltage security technicians or electricians familiar with alarm and access control wiring. De-energize the security panel or alarm loop before handling contacts or wiring. Mount the magnet on the moving door or window sash and align it with the reed switch housing on the fixed frame, following the manufacturer alignment gap specification. NEC Article 725 governs low-voltage control and signaling circuits in most jurisdictions.
