The George Risk Industries 4400-A is a wide-gap surface mount magnetic contact designed for door and window security applications. It mounts directly to the surface of a door or window frame without requiring a routed or recessed cavity, making installation straightforward on both new construction and retrofit projects. The aluminum construction provides corrosion resistance and durability in a range of environmental conditions. The 4400-A is engineered to accommodate a 2.5-inch gap between the magnet and the switch body, suitable for installations where standard narrow-gap contacts would not reliably trigger. Licensed alarm installation technicians and low-voltage electricians are the primary installers of this contact type.
This contact is intended for surface mount applications on doors, windows, gates, or access panels where a larger separation distance between the contact halves is required. The aluminum housing makes it appropriate for interior and exterior use cases where a metal body is preferred over plastic. It is sold as a single unit and is commonly used in commercial and residential intrusion detection systems wired to a security control panel.
Designed as an OEM-style surface mount magnetic contact for use in residential and commercial intrusion detection systems requiring a wide-gap door or window contact.
Installation is typically performed by licensed low-voltage technicians or alarm system installers in accordance with local codes and NFPA 731 guidelines. Power down the security control panel or place it in test mode before connecting or disconnecting wiring at the contact leads. Mount the magnet half to the moving door or window sash and the switch body to the stationary frame, aligning both halves within the rated gap distance. Avoid mounting on ferrous metal surfaces that may interfere with the magnetic field.
