The GEORG FISCHER 9861-343 is a Schedule 80 CPVC threaded nipple designed for demanding pressure piping applications. Manufactured from Corzan CPVC compound, this nipple features male pipe threads on both ends (MPT x MPT) and measures 3 inches in diameter by 6 inches in length. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure ratings and mechanical strength compared to Schedule 40, making it a reliable choice for industrial and commercial plumbing systems carrying corrosive fluids, hot water, or chemical process media. Plumbers and pipefitters specify Corzan CPVC where metallic pipe would corrode or where elevated temperatures rule out standard PVC.
This nipple is suited for use in industrial process piping, chemical distribution lines, hot and cold water systems, and commercial plumbing installations where corrosion resistance and thermal stability are required. The MPT x MPT thread configuration allows direct connection to female-threaded fittings, valves, and equipment ports. It is commonly installed in both above-ground and below-ground applications where CPVC Schedule 80 is specified by the design engineer or local code.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component compatible with Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems using standard NPT-threaded fittings and valves in 3 inch nominal pipe size.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter familiar with CPVC pressure piping systems and applicable codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Isolate and depressurize the piping system and allow it to cool before beginning work. Use CPVC-rated thread sealant or tape on all threaded joints and tighten to hand-tight plus the manufacturer-recommended number of turns — do not over-torque, as CPVC threads can crack under excessive force. Avoid contact with incompatible solvents, adhesives, or joining compounds not rated for Corzan CPVC.
