The GEORG FISCHER 9837-582FB is a Schedule 80 CPVC reducing bushing in flush style, designed to transition from an 8-inch spigot connection to a 4-inch socket connection in a two-step reduction. Manufactured from Corzan CPVC, this bushing is built to handle aggressive chemical environments and elevated temperatures where standard PVC would fall short. At 8.57 pounds and measuring 5.15 inches in length, it is a substantial fitting suited for industrial and commercial piping systems that demand both chemical resistance and structural integrity. Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters working on thermoplastic piping systems.
This bushing is used in industrial process piping, chemical distribution, and commercial plumbing systems where a reduction from 8-inch to 4-inch pipe diameter is required. The spigot-by-socket (SPG x S) end configuration allows the fitting to be solvent-cemented directly into a larger socket fitting on one end while accepting a smaller pipe into its socket on the other. The flush bushing style sits flush within the adjoining fitting rather than protruding, making it the preferred choice when clearance inside a fitting is a constraint. Applications typically include chemical processing plants, water treatment facilities, and industrial cooling systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 CPVC thermoplastic piping systems using solvent-cement joining methods.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter familiar with CPVC solvent-cement procedures. Depressurize and drain the piping system completely before cutting into any existing line. Use only CPVC-rated solvent cement and primer as specified by the fitting manufacturer and applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Allow full cure time before restoring system pressure.
