The GEORG FISCHER 9837-167 is a Schedule 80 CPVC reducing bushing designed to step down from a 1-1/4-inch nominal pipe connection to a 3/4-inch nominal pipe connection. It uses a spigot-by-socket (male-by-female) configuration, allowing it to be solvent-cemented directly into an existing Schedule 80 CPVC fitting or system. Rated to 520 psi at 73 degrees F and suitable for continuous service up to 200 degrees F, this bushing is built for demanding industrial and commercial piping environments. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both potable and non-potable water systems where a durable, chemically resistant thermoplastic reducer is required.
This bushing is suited for Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems in residential, commercial, and light industrial settings. Typical applications include potable water distribution, non-potable process water lines, and chemical handling systems where CPVC's corrosion resistance provides an advantage over metal fittings. The gray color is standard for Schedule 80 CPVC and aids in visual identification on the job site.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard component for Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems handling potable water and non-potable water service, conforming to ASTM F439.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following local plumbing codes and ASTM F493 solvent-cement procedures for CPVC. Shut off and depressurize the water supply completely before cutting into any existing line. Use CPVC-rated solvent cement and primer only — do not use PVC cement on CPVC fittings. Allow full cure time per the cement manufacturer's instructions before restoring system pressure.
