The GEORG FISCHER 861-079 is a Schedule 80 PVC threaded nipple designed for use in pressurized piping systems carrying potable and non-potable water. It measures 1/2 inch nominal pipe size with an overall length of 2 inches and an outside diameter of approximately 0.84 inches. Both ends feature male NPT threads, allowing direct connection to standard threaded fittings, valves, and pipe. Rated for up to 425 psi at 73 degrees F, this nipple handles demanding residential and light commercial plumbing installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting.
This nipple is suited for cold and hot water distribution, irrigation, and industrial fluid-handling lines where Schedule 80 PVC fittings are specified. The 425 psi pressure rating makes it appropriate for pressurized systems within the temperature range of 32 degrees F to 140 degrees F. It is not intended for gravity-flow drainage or DWV applications. Typical installations include connecting valves to supply lines, extending threaded runs, or closing out threaded pipe ends in both above-ground and enclosed mechanical spaces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with Schedule 80 PVC threaded piping systems using 1/2 inch NPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for PVC threaded fittings. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Use PTFE thread tape or an approved thread sealant rated for PVC and the fluid being carried. Do not over-tighten threaded PVC fittings, as excess torque can crack the fitting body.
