The GEORG FISCHER 849-010 is a 1-inch Schedule 80 PVC spigot plug designed to close off the end of a pipe or fitting in pressurized plumbing systems. Built from rigid PVC, it delivers solid chemical resistance and durability in both above-ground and in-wall installations. The spigot end seats into a socket-type fitting, creating a secure, leak-resistant termination point. Plumbers and pipefitters install this plug during system testing, to cap unused branch outlets, or as a permanent end closure on Schedule 80 PVC piping runs.
This plug is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where Schedule 80 PVC pipe and fittings are specified. Common install scenarios include irrigation supply lines, chemical distribution systems, industrial process piping, and potable water systems where PVC is code-approved. The spigot configuration makes it compatible with standard socket-end Schedule 80 fittings throughout a PVC piping system.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit component for Schedule 80 PVC socket-end fittings in 1-inch nominal pipe systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters. Depressurize and drain the line completely before removing any existing fitting or installing this plug. Apply a PVC primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 fittings in accordance with ASTM D2564 and local plumbing code requirements. Do not use petroleum-based lubricants or thread sealants on solvent-weld connections.
