The GEORG FISCHER 849-007 is a Schedule 80 PVC spigot plug designed to cap open pipe ends in pressure-rated plumbing systems. Manufactured from rigid PVC, this plug fits a 3/4 inch spigot connection and is suitable for use in systems where a durable, corrosion-resistant closure is required. At 0.0374 pounds, the fitting is lightweight and easy to handle during installation. Schedule 80 construction provides heavier wall thickness than Schedule 40, making it appropriate for higher-pressure applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this type of plug to seal unused outlets, test lines, or temporarily close off branch connections during system commissioning or repair.
This plug is intended for use in residential and commercial plumbing systems that utilize Schedule 80 PVC pipe and fittings. It is commonly installed in cold and ambient-temperature water distribution lines, chemical handling systems, and irrigation manifolds where PVC is the specified material. The spigot end inserts directly into a socket fitting, allowing a clean, solvent-weld connection. It is well suited for applications requiring a permanent or semi-permanent pipe terminus on 3/4 inch Schedule 80 PVC systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 3/4 inch Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using spigot-to-socket solvent-weld connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before installing or replacing any plug. Apply an appropriate PVC primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 fittings; allow full cure time before restoring pressure. Do not use this fitting in systems that exceed the pressure or temperature ratings of Schedule 80 PVC.
