The GEORG FISCHER 847-012 is a 1-1/4 inch PVC slip socket cap designed to terminate open pipe ends in non-pressurized and low-pressure piping systems. This fitting accepts a plain-end pipe inserted directly into the socket, where solvent cement creates a permanent, leak-tight seal. PVC construction makes it suitable for cold and ambient-temperature water, irrigation, and chemical drainage applications where corrosion resistance is required. Plumbers and pipefitters install this cap during new construction, system modifications, or to blank off unused branch connections.
This cap is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation distribution lines, and drainage or waste piping systems. The slip socket end accepts standard Schedule 40 PVC pipe at the 1-1/4 inch nominal size. It is a common fitting used when capping a branch line, closing off a temporary test port, or completing a system where a future connection point must be sealed until later use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard fitting for 1-1/4 inch nominal PVC slip socket piping systems in plumbing, irrigation, and drainage applications.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off flow and depressurize the line before fitting the cap. Clean and dry the pipe end, apply PVC primer, then solvent cement per the cement manufacturer's cure time instructions before restoring pressure or flow. Do not apply heat or use threaded installation methods on a slip socket fitting.
