The GEORG FISCHER 838-249 is a flush-style reducer bushing manufactured from Schedule 80 PVC, rated at 315 PSI at 73 degrees F. It transitions a 2-inch pipe down to a 1-inch female pipe thread (FPT) connection using a spigot (SPG) inlet. The flush-style design sits flat against the fitting face, minimizing installed length. This bushing is used by plumbers and pipefitters working on pressure-rated PVC piping systems in commercial and industrial applications where corrosion resistance and chemical compatibility are required.
This reducer bushing fits into Schedule 80 PVC piping assemblies used in chemical handling, irrigation, industrial process lines, and commercial plumbing systems. The spigot end is sized to insert directly into a Schedule 80 socket fitting, while the female pipe thread outlet accepts a standard NPT male threaded component. At 0.22 pounds, it is lightweight and easy to handle during installation in tight spaces or prefabricated assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for Schedule 80 PVC pressure piping systems requiring a 2-inch spigot to 1-inch female pipe thread reducer bushing.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC and local plumbing codes. Solvent-cement the spigot end into the mating Schedule 80 socket fitting using PVC-rated cement and primer, following the cement manufacturer's cure time before pressurizing. Thread connections should be made with PTFE tape or thread sealant rated for PVC. De-pressurize and drain the system fully before beginning any fitting work.
