The GEORG FISCHER 838-248 is a flush-style PVC reducer bushing rated for 345 PSI at 73 degrees F, built to Schedule 80 standards. It steps down a 2-inch spigot connection to a 3/4-inch female pipe thread (FPT) fitting. Constructed from PVC, this bushing is well suited for chemical-resistant, non-metallic piping systems where a compact, flush-profile transition between pipe sizes is required. Plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in pressure-rated systems where maintaining a tight, inline profile reduces turbulence and conserves space in the pipe run.
This reducer bushing is used in residential and commercial plumbing, irrigation, and industrial piping applications that call for Schedule 80 PVC fittings. The spigot inlet allows the bushing to seat directly into a socket-end fitting or valve, while the FPT outlet accepts a threaded pipe or nipple. It is a common solution when reducing line size within a Schedule 80 system without adding unnecessary length to the assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 2-inch spigot and 3/4-inch female pipe thread connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before cutting into any existing pipe run. Use PVC solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 fittings on the spigot end, and apply PTFE thread tape or compatible thread sealant on the FPT connection. Do not exceed the rated pressure or temperature limits of the fitting.
