The GEORG FISCHER 837-212 is a PVC reducer bushing designed to transition between a 1-1/2 inch spigot connection and a 1-1/4 inch slip socket. Reducer bushings of this type allow a smaller-diameter fitting or pipe to be inserted into a larger socket, making them a compact solution for reducing pipe size within a run without adding a full coupling or union. This fitting is manufactured from PVC, suited for low-pressure fluid handling in plumbing, irrigation, pool and spa, and light industrial piping systems. Licensed plumbers and pipe fitters are the typical installers.
This reducer bushing is used in residential and light commercial piping applications where a size reduction is needed inline. The spigot end inserts into a 1-1/2 inch socket, while the slip end accepts a 1-1/4 inch pipe or fitting. Typical install scenarios include pool and spa return lines, irrigation manifolds, and general PVC pressure plumbing where pipe sizing changes within a system. It is suited for above-ground and buried installations where PVC is an approved material.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with standard schedule PVC piping systems using 1-1/2 inch and 1-1/4 inch nominal pipe sizes joined with solvent cement.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipe fitter following local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before cutting into any existing piping. Clean and dry all mating surfaces before applying PVC primer and solvent cement per the cement manufacturer's instructions and applicable IPC or local code guidance. Allow full cure time before restoring system pressure.
