The GEORG FISCHER 829-337FB is a Schedule 80 PVC reducing coupling configured in a socket-by-socket bushed arrangement, reducing from a 3-inch hub to a 1-1/2-inch outlet. Made from rigid PVC, this fitting is suited for pressure-rated piping systems where a pipe-diameter reduction is required within the same solvent-welded run. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides additional pressure capacity and mechanical strength compared to Schedule 40 fittings, making it appropriate for demanding plumbing and industrial service installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this coupling as part of solvent-cemented PVC pressure piping systems.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and commercial plumbing systems where a transition from 3-inch to 1-1/2-inch PVC pipe is needed within a solvent-welded socket connection. Typical applications include drain, waste, and vent piping as well as cold-water pressure distribution and light industrial fluid-handling systems constructed with Schedule 80 PVC components. It is manufactured by Georg Fischer Sloane, a recognized producer of thermoplastic piping fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC solvent-weld piping systems using 3-inch by 1-1/2-inch socket connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or UPC. Shut off water supply and depressurize the line before cutting into any existing piping. Use a PVC primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 fittings, and allow full cure time before returning the line to service. Do not apply heat to seat or adjust the fitting.
