The GEORG FISCHER 829-251 is a Schedule 80 PVC reducing coupling designed to transition between a 2-inch pipe and a 1-1/2-inch pipe in a socket-by-socket (SxS) configuration. Built from rigid PVC, this coupling handles the mechanical stress and chemical exposure common in industrial and commercial plumbing systems. The heavier wall thickness of Schedule 80 construction provides greater pressure capacity and impact resistance compared to Schedule 40. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting wherever a permanent, solvent-welded reduction is needed in a PVC pressure or drain system.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and commercial plumbing, irrigation, chemical distribution, and industrial process piping where a reduction from 2-inch to 1-1/2-inch is required. The socket-by-socket end configuration accepts standard Schedule 80 PVC pipe on both ends and is joined using PVC primer and solvent cement. It is appropriate for above-ground and below-ground installations where PVC is code-approved.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems requiring a 2-inch to 1-1/2-inch socket reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting or fitting any components. Both pipe ends must be cut square, deburred, and cleaned before applying PVC primer and solvent cement per the cement manufacturer's instructions. Allow full cure time before restoring pressure to the system.
