The GEORG FISCHER 817-025 is a 2-1/2 inch Schedule 80 PVC 45-degree elbow configured in a socket-by-socket (SxS) end pattern. Built from rigid PVC, it handles the higher pressure ratings required in demanding plumbing and industrial piping systems where standard Schedule 40 fittings are not adequate. The 45-degree angle allows for directional changes in a run of pipe without the abrupt flow restriction of a 90-degree elbow. At 0.83 pounds, it is lightweight enough for overhead and confined-space installations. Plumbers and pipefitters select Schedule 80 fittings where increased wall thickness and pressure capacity are specified by design or code.
This elbow is used in residential and commercial plumbing systems, irrigation headers, chemical drain lines, and industrial process piping where Schedule 80 PVC is called out. The SxS socket configuration accepts solvent-weld connections on both ends, making it compatible with standard 2-1/2 inch Schedule 80 PVC pipe. It is well suited for drain, waste, and vent applications as well as cold-water pressure lines within the rated service temperature range of PVC.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 2-1/2 inch Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using solvent-weld connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting into any existing piping. Use a PVC pipe cutter or fine-tooth saw, deburr cut ends thoroughly, and apply the appropriate Schedule 80 PVC primer and solvent cement per the cement manufacturer's instructions. Allow the solvent weld to cure fully before restoring pressure to the line.
