The GEORG FISCHER 801-585 is a Schedule 80 PVC reducing tee designed for demanding pressure piping systems where flow reduction is required at a branch connection. Sized at 8 inches by 6 inches with a socket-by-socket-by-socket (SxSxS) end configuration, this fitting accepts solvent-cemented joints on all three ports. PVC Schedule 80 construction provides greater wall thickness and pressure ratings than Schedule 40, making it suitable for industrial, commercial, and municipal plumbing applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting where a run of 8-inch pipe must branch to a 6-inch line.
This reducing tee is used in pressure piping systems that require a change in line size at a tee junction. Typical applications include commercial plumbing distribution, process piping, chemical handling systems, and irrigation mainlines where PVC is an approved material. The SxSxS socket configuration requires solvent cement and primer per manufacturer and code guidelines before assembly. It is not intended for use with threaded or flanged connections at these ports.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for Schedule 80 PVC pressure piping systems using 8-inch and 6-inch nominal pipe sizes with socket-end connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with the International Plumbing Code and applicable local codes. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before cutting in or replacing any fitting. Use a listed PVC primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 pipe and fittings; allow full cure time before pressurizing the system. Do not apply heat or flame to PVC fittings during installation.
