The GENESIS CABLE 45155004 is a 12 AWG, 2-conductor solid-conductor fire alarm cable with a plenum-rated FPLP jacket, supplied on a 500-foot reel in red. Designed for use in fire protective signaling systems, this cable meets the National Electrical Code requirements for plenum-space installations where air-handling environmental air spaces require low-smoke, limited-combustibility wiring. The solid conductor construction suits fixed-routing runs between initiating devices, notification appliances, and control panels. Fire alarm installers and low-voltage electricians are the primary trades who work with this product.
FPLP-rated cable is required in plenum ceilings and air-handling spaces where standard FPL or FPLR cable is not permitted by the authority having jurisdiction. This cable is suited for 2-wire supervised circuits typical in conventional and addressable fire alarm systems installed in commercial buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, and other occupancies where plenum-space routing is necessary. The red jacket color is the industry-standard identifier for fire alarm circuit wiring and aids in circuit tracing during inspection and service.
Designed for use in fire protective signaling systems requiring NEC Article 760 compliant plenum-rated 2-conductor solid cable. Consult the fire alarm control panel manufacturer specifications and the authority having jurisdiction to confirm conductor gauge and cable type requirements for the specific system being installed.
Installation must be performed by a licensed low-voltage or fire alarm contractor in accordance with NEC Article 760 and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the fire alarm control panel before making wiring connections to any circuit. Minimum bend radius and support spacing requirements for plenum cable must be observed per the NEC and local fire marshal requirements. Do not share conduit or raceways with non-power-limited circuits unless proper separation or barriers are maintained as required by code.
