The GENERIC WIRE CABLE mtw6strblk500r is a 6 AWG stranded copper MTW (Machine Tool Wire) rated at 600 volts and wound on a 500-foot spool. The conductor is built from 19-strand bare annealed copper with PVC insulation, giving it the flexibility required in machine tool enclosures, control panels, and industrial wiring applications. Current capacity scales with temperature: 55 amps at 60 degrees C, 65 amps at 75 degrees C, and 75 amps at 90 degrees C. The maximum temperature rating is 90 degrees C. Electricians and machine tool technicians install this wire when routing power and control circuits inside or between industrial equipment.
MTW wire is designed for use inside machine tools, control panels, and industrial enclosures where flexibility and oil resistance are required. The black insulation color is standard for power conductors in many panel wiring conventions. This 500-foot spool suits both large projects and shop-stock replenishment. Applications include motor control centers, industrial machinery, automation panels, and similar 600-volt-rated commercial and industrial environments.
Designed as an MTW-type machine tool wire suitable for use in industrial control panels, machine tool enclosures, and similar 600-volt-rated wiring systems where UL-listed MTW wire is specified.
MTW wire is installed by licensed electricians following NEC Article 670 for machine tools and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the equipment before pulling or terminating conductors. Use appropriately rated connectors and terminals for 6 AWG conductors. Verify that conduit fill, termination ratings, and overcurrent protection are sized to match the wire gauge and ampacity for the installed temperature rating.
