The GENERIC WIRE CABLE mtw4strblk500r is a 4 AWG stranded copper MTW (Machine Tool Wire) rated for 600 volts, supplied on a 500-foot spool in black PVC insulation. MTW-type wire is built to handle the flex, vibration, and moisture exposure common inside industrial machinery, control panels, and automation enclosures. The 19-strand bare annealed copper conductor provides flexibility during routing and termination. Temperature ratings of 90 degrees C make this wire suitable for demanding thermal environments. Electricians and machine tool technicians install this wire for internal wiring of industrial equipment governed by NEC Article 670 and UL 508A panel shop standards.
MTW wire is primarily used for internal wiring in machine tools, industrial control panels, and automation equipment. At 4 AWG, this conductor handles current loads of 70 amps at 60 degrees C, 85 amps at 75 degrees C, and 95 amps at 90 degrees C, making it appropriate for motor branch circuits, control panel feeders, and power distribution runs inside enclosures. The 500-foot spool length suits shop stock for panel builders and contractors working on multiple machine installations or larger runs.
Designed for use as internal wiring in industrial machine tools, control enclosures, and automation panels where UL-listed MTW-type wire at 600 volts and 4 AWG is specified.
MTW wire is installed by licensed electricians and UL 508A-certified panel shops. De-energize all circuits and lock out the equipment per LOTO procedures before routing or terminating conductors. Verify conduit fill calculations per NEC Chapter 9 tables when running through conduit. Use appropriately rated lugs and terminals rated for the conductor size and temperature range of the application.
