The GENERIC WIRE CABLE mtw16strblk500r is a 16 AWG stranded copper MTW (Machine Tool Wire) rated for 600 volts and supplied on a 500-foot spool. The conductor is built with 26 strands of copper for flexibility in tight routing paths and repeated flex applications. PVC insulation provides resistance across a wide temperature range, from -25 to 105 degrees C. Current capacity is 8 amps at 60, 75, and 90 degrees C ambient ratings. The black jacket color aids in circuit identification and color-coded wiring layouts. Electricians and machine builders use this wire in control panels, machine tool enclosures, and industrial wiring harnesses where UL-listed MTW wire is specified.
MTW wire is designed for use inside machine tools, control cabinets, and industrial equipment enclosures. It is well suited for routing through wireways, conduit, and raceways in manufacturing and automation environments. The 500-foot spool length covers multiple drops or full panel builds without splicing. This wire is appropriate for both new installations and service work on existing machine tool wiring systems where 16 AWG, 600-volt MTW conductors are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation conductor for machine tool enclosures, industrial control panels, and equipment requiring 16 AWG 600-volt MTW-type wire.
MTW wire is installed by licensed electricians and machine tool technicians working under NEC Article 310 and applicable machine wiring standards such as NFPA 79. De-energize and lock out all equipment before pulling or terminating wire. Use appropriately sized wire strippers for 16 AWG conductors and torque terminals per the terminal manufacturer's specifications. Do not exceed the wire's 8-amp current rating or operate outside its listed temperature range.
