The GENERAL G605-4070 is a plunger-style dial drop indicator designed for precision measurement applications in mechanical, HVAC, and industrial service work. It covers a measurement range of 0 to 1 inch with a graduation of 0.001 inches per division, allowing technicians to detect fine variations in shaft runout, surface flatness, or component alignment. The white 2.25-inch dial face displays a 0-100 reading scale, and the built-in revolution counter tracks cumulative travel across multiple revolutions. A lug back mount provides secure attachment to indicator holders, arms, and magnetic base setups commonly used in field and shop environments.
This indicator is well suited for residential and commercial mechanical service, including HVAC equipment alignment, motor shaft inspection, pump installation, and general precision fitting work. The magnetic base mount type makes it straightforward to position on ferrous machine surfaces without additional fixturing. The adjustable dial bezel allows technicians to zero the indicator against a reference surface before taking comparative measurements. Each unit ships individually and is appropriate for single-unit purchase.
Designed as an OEM-style precision measurement tool compatible with standard dial indicator holders, lug-back clamps, and magnetic base arms used across mechanical, HVAC, and industrial service applications.
Installation and use of dial indicators should be performed by qualified mechanical or service technicians familiar with precision measurement practices. Secure the indicator firmly to the holder or magnetic base before taking readings to prevent movement errors. Power down or lock out any rotating equipment before placing the indicator tip against a shaft or moving component. Do not exceed the stated measurement range, as overtravel can damage the internal mechanism.
