The GENERAL ELECTRIC nf97u090m4c is a modulating upflow and horizontal flow gas furnace rated at 90,000 BTU/h with a 97% AFUE efficiency rating. It uses a variable speed motor to match heating output to demand, reducing short-cycling and improving comfort across different load conditions. The crimped heat exchanger construction and modulating gas valve allow precise control over fuel input, making this unit well-suited for residential systems where efficiency and consistent airflow are priorities. Licensed HVAC technicians install and commission this furnace.
This furnace is designed for upflow and horizontal flow configurations, giving installers flexibility during new construction or replacement projects. At 4 tons of airflow capacity and 90K BTU/h input, it fits mid-to-large residential applications where heating demand requires a high-output, high-efficiency unit. The gray cabinet finish and pre-formed cabinet flanges support straightforward field installation. Insta-Position technology allows the unit to be repositioned for different installation orientations without additional fabrication.
Designed as an OEM-style high-efficiency modulating gas furnace for residential forced-air heating systems in upflow or horizontal flow applications.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes and the appliance manufacturer instructions. Shut off all gas supply and electrical power to the system before beginning any service or replacement work. Venting must comply with applicable fuel gas codes, including IFGC requirements for 97% AFUE condensing appliances, which typically require PVC or CPVC vent piping. Condensate drainage must also be properly routed per local plumbing codes.
