The GENERAL ELECTRIC nf97u090m3c is a modulating upflow and horizontal flow gas furnace rated at 90,000 BTU/h output with a 97% AFUE efficiency rating. Designed for residential forced-air heating systems, this furnace uses a variable speed motor and modulating heat stages to match heating output to actual demand, reducing short-cycling and improving comfort. The heat exchanger uses crimped construction rather than welded seams. Insta-Position Technology and pre-formed flanges simplify cabinet positioning and field connections during installation. Licensed HVAC technicians are the intended service trade for this equipment.
This furnace is configured for upflow or horizontal airflow, making it suitable for installations in utility closets, basements, crawl spaces, or attic platforms where horizontal runs are required. The 3-ton nominal sizing pairs with standard residential split systems. The gray cabinet finish is a standard appearance for this product line. At 33 inches tall, 21 inches wide, and 28.5 inches deep, the cabinet fits typical residential mechanical room footprints.
Designed as an OEM-style modulating gas furnace for residential forced-air heating systems requiring upflow or horizontal airflow configuration at 90,000 BTU/h and 97% AFUE.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes and IFGC requirements. Shut off gas supply and disconnect electrical power at the breaker before beginning any service or installation work. Verify venting configuration, gas line sizing, and static pressure against manufacturer specifications before startup. Do not modify the heat exchanger or cabinet structure in the field.
