The GENERAL ELECTRIC nf96d090s4cr is a single-stage downflow gas furnace rated at 96% AFUE with 88,000 BTU/h input and 86,000 BTU/h output. It is engineered for residential forced-air heating systems and operates on 120 volts with a 15-amp fuse. The unit delivers up to 2,000 CFM airflow through a constant torque ECM-style motor, which maintains consistent airflow across varying static pressure conditions. Ignition is handled by a dedicated ignitor. Cabinet finish is gray and the unit is configured for downflow applications, fitting standard C-cabinet duct configurations. Licensed HVAC technicians are the primary installers for this equipment.
This furnace is suited for residential downflow installations where the air supply exits through the bottom of the unit. The C cabinet dimensions — 33 inches high, 21 inches wide, and 28.75 inches deep — make it compatible with standard platform or closet installations designed for downflow equipment. The unit supports R410A and R454B refrigerant coil pairings for combined heating and cooling systems. Low NOX emissions place it below 40 ng/J, meeting strict regional air quality requirements in force in many markets.
Designed as an OEM downflow gas furnace in the NF96D series, compatible with R410A and R454B evaporator coil assemblies in residential split-system configurations. Confirm coil and cabinet dimensions match the installation platform before ordering.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes and the manufacturer written instructions. Shut off gas supply and disconnect electrical power before beginning any service or installation work. Downflow furnaces require a heat-rated subbase or platform when installed over combustible flooring — verify local code requirements before mounting. Do not operate the unit without all panels secured and ductwork fully connected.
