The General Electric nf96d070v4b is a two-stage downflow gas furnace rated at 70,000 BTU/h output with a 96% Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating. Two-stage operation means the burner fires at a reduced capacity during mild conditions and ramps to full capacity when demand requires, delivering more consistent temperatures and quieter operation compared to single-stage units. At 96% AFUE, nearly all fuel burned is converted to usable heat. This furnace is designed for downflow installation and is sized for up to 4-ton cooling coil integration. Licensed HVAC technicians handle specification, installation, and commissioning of this equipment.
This furnace suits residential forced-air heating systems where a downflow configuration is required, such as installations where supply air must discharge downward into an under-floor duct system or into a crawlspace plenum. The two-stage heat output makes it well suited for variable-demand residential applications where comfort and fuel efficiency are priorities. Pairing with a compatible 4-ton evaporator coil supports year-round system use for both heating and cooling seasons.
Designed as an OEM downflow gas furnace intended for residential forced-air heating systems requiring a two-stage, high-efficiency unit in a downflow cabinet configuration.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) and all applicable local codes. Shut off the gas supply and disconnect electrical power before beginning any service or installation work. Proper venting is critical for a 96% AFUE condensing furnace, as it produces acidic condensate and requires a dedicated PVC flue system rather than a traditional metal B-vent. A combustion air and ventilation analysis should be completed before commissioning the unit.
