The GENERAL ELECTRIC nf80u135s5d is a single-stage, upflow and horizontal-flow gas furnace rated at 132,000 BTU/h input and 107,000 BTU/h output, delivering 80% AFUE heating efficiency. Designed for residential forced-air heating systems, this furnace includes a 5-ton blower, making it suitable for larger homes where the air handler must support a matched central cooling system. Licensed HVAC technicians install and commission this unit as the primary heat source in a ducted gas-fired system. The cabinet measures 33 inches tall by 24.5 inches wide by 28.375 inches deep.
This furnace is intended for upflow or horizontal-flow installations, giving installers flexibility when configuring ductwork in basements, utility rooms, closets, or attic-adjacent mechanical spaces. The 5-ton blower capacity supports connection to a matching 5-ton central air conditioning or heat pump system. The single-stage burner operates at full input whenever there is a call for heat, which is a straightforward, proven design common in residential replacement and new-construction applications requiring a high-capacity gas furnace.
Designed as an OEM-style upflow and horizontal-flow residential gas furnace replacement or new-construction unit for systems requiring up to 135,000 BTU/h input capacity and a 5-ton blower.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), local mechanical codes, and the manufacturer installation instructions. Shut off gas supply and disconnect electrical power before beginning any work on the appliance or ductwork. Verify that flue venting meets code requirements for an 80% AFUE non-condensing furnace, including proper B-vent sizing and clearances. Do not operate the unit before all gas connections have been leak-tested and all duct connections are secured.
