The GENERAL ELECTRIC nf80d090t4br is a two-stage downflow natural gas furnace rated at 80% AFUE and 90,000 BTU/h output capacity. It is sized for 4-ton system configurations and ships in a B cabinet form factor. Two-stage operation allows the furnace to run at a lower firing rate during moderate weather and ramp up to full capacity on the coldest days, reducing short-cycling and improving comfort. Licensed HVAC technicians install this unit in residential forced-air heating systems where a downflow air discharge configuration is required.
The nf80d090t4br is intended for downflow installations, meaning supply air exits through the bottom of the cabinet. This configuration is common in homes with crawl-space ductwork or where the furnace is installed in an upper-level mechanical closet discharging into floor-level supply plenums. The B cabinet sizing fits standard residential applications at the 3.5- to 4-ton range. This unit is appropriate for replacement or new-construction installations in residential gas heating systems.
Designed as an OEM-style downflow gas furnace for residential forced-air heating systems requiring a B cabinet footprint and 4-ton matched capacity.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes, the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), and the manufacturer instructions supplied with the unit. Shut off the gas supply and disconnect electrical power before servicing or making connections. Downflow installations require a listed combustible-floor base or sub-base when the unit is set on a combustible surface. Flue venting must be configured for 80% AFUE non-condensing B-vent requirements.
