The GENERAL ELECTRIC nf80d090t4b is a two-stage downflow gas furnace rated at 110,000 BTU/h output and 80% AFUE. Two-stage operation means the burner fires at a reduced capacity during mild weather and steps up to full capacity during peak heating demand, reducing short cycling and improving comfort. The downflow configuration discharges conditioned air downward through the supply plenum, making it the correct choice for installations where the duct system runs beneath the unit. Licensed HVAC technicians install and commission this furnace as part of a forced-air heating system in residential or light-commercial applications.
This furnace is suited for downflow installations where the air handler sits in an upper-level mechanical closet or above a crawlspace with an underfloor duct system. The two-stage firing sequence pairs well with a compatible two-stage thermostat or communicating control system to maximize efficiency across varying outdoor conditions. At 80% AFUE, 80 cents of every dollar of gas input is converted to usable heat, meeting the federal minimum efficiency standard for non-condensing gas furnaces in most climate regions.
Designed as an OEM-style downflow gas furnace replacement or new-installation unit for residential and light-commercial forced-air heating systems requiring a non-condensing, two-stage configuration.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC contractor in accordance with the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), local mechanical codes, and the manufacturer installation instructions. Shut off gas supply and disconnect electrical power before any service or connection work. A listed gas connector, proper flue venting sized to the unit, and a correctly rated thermostat or control wiring are required before startup. Do not operate the furnace without verifying proper venting, gas pressure, and airflow prior to commissioning.
