The GENERAL ELECTRIC ncuc48bt4 is a 4-ton cased evaporator coil configured for upflow cabinet installation in split-system air conditioning and heat pump applications. The cased design protects coil fins during handling and installation and allows for a clean, code-compliant fit into matching air handler or furnace cabinets. At 4 tons of capacity, this coil is suited to medium-to-large residential systems and light commercial applications. Licensed HVAC technicians install this component as part of a refrigerant circuit, connecting it to a matched outdoor condensing unit and an air distribution system.
This evaporator coil is intended for upflow applications where the air handler or furnace forces conditioned air upward through the coil cabinet before delivery to the duct system. The B-cabinet sizing and cased configuration make it appropriate for residential split systems in the 4-ton capacity range. It is typically installed in utility rooms, mechanical closets, or basement installations where an upflow air handler or furnace is present.
Designed as an OEM-style cased evaporator coil replacement for 4-ton upflow split-system applications in residential and light commercial HVAC installations.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician holding an EPA Section 608 refrigerant handling certification. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power and close the refrigerant service valves before opening the refrigerant circuit. Coil connections require proper brazing technique and leak testing before system evacuation and recharge. Follow local mechanical codes and the manufacturer documentation for drain pan, condensate line, and airflow clearance requirements.
