The GENERAL ELECTRIC em3586 is a direct drive PSC blower motor designed for forced-air furnace and air handler applications. Rated at 1/3 HP and 1075 RPM, this 3-speed motor operates on 208-230 volts at 60 Hz and draws 2.8, 1.7, or 1.2 amps depending on the speed tap selected. The 48Y frame construction and open enclosure make it a standard fit for residential furnace blower decks. Ball bearings support reliable shaft rotation over extended duty cycles. A licensed HVAC technician is the typical installer for this type of motor.
This motor is suited for residential and light-commercial forced-air heating systems using a direct drive blower assembly. The 3-speed winding configuration allows the installer to match airflow to system design requirements across heating, cooling, and continuous fan modes. The reversing plug simplifies shaft rotation direction changes without rewiring. Note that a 5 MFD run capacitor is required for operation and is not included with this motor.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for direct drive furnace blower motors using a 48Y frame, 3-speed PSC winding, and 1/2-inch shaft in residential forced-air heating and cooling systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Disconnect and lock out power to the furnace or air handler at the disconnect and breaker before removing the existing motor. A 5 MFD run capacitor is required and must be sourced separately. Verify shaft rotation direction using the reversing plug before final installation, and confirm speed tap selection matches the system airflow design before returning the unit to service.
