The GENERAL AIRE 5730 is a fan-powered whole-home humidifier from the Elite 1000A series, rated at 18 gallons per day (GPD) of moisture output. An internal fan draws warm supply air through a highly evaporative Vapor Pad, then distributes moistened air throughout the duct system. Operating at 120 VAC, this unit is designed for forced-air heating systems in residential applications. HVAC technicians install it as a bypass or fan-powered add-on to existing ductwork, making it suitable for new construction and retrofit jobs alike. The included GFX3 humidistat provides integrated humidity control without a separate controller purchase.
The 5730 is engineered for residential forced-air systems where maintaining indoor relative humidity is a priority during heating season. With an 18 GPD nominal capacity, it is sized for larger homes where passive bypass humidifiers may fall short. The unit mounts to the supply or return plenum and uses an internal blower to operate independently of furnace fan cycles, giving technicians more flexible placement and control options.
Designed as an OEM fan-powered humidifier for installation on residential forced-air heating systems; compatible with supply or return plenum installations where a 12-inch H x 14-inch W plenum opening can be accommodated.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes and the manufacturer instructions. Shut off power to the furnace and close the water supply valve before beginning any ductwork or plumbing connections. The unit requires both a 120 VAC power source and a potable water supply line with a saddle valve or equivalent fitting. Verify plenum dimensions and duct clearances before cutting the opening to avoid rework.
