The GEARWRENCH 86186 is a 1/2 inch impact-rated nutsetter designed for use with impact drivers, power drills, and power screwdrivers. Built from Chrome Molybdenum Alloy Steel with a Black Oxide finish, it absorbs and transfers high torque loads without fracturing. The 1/4 inch hex shank seats securely in standard quick-change chucks. A torsion zone runs through the shank to extend service life in sustained impact applications. High-visibility laser-etched markings make size identification fast in the field. At 2-9/16 inches overall length, it provides clearance in typical fastening scenarios without adding unnecessary reach.
This nutsetter is suited for residential and commercial construction and service work where lag bolts must be driven or frozen fasteners must be broken loose. The bi-directional design allows both tightening and removal of damaged fasteners. Dual-sized sockets accommodate both SAE and metric fasteners, and minus-size geometry lets the socket grip a wider range of damaged or rounded hardware. Tapered entry seats the socket quickly onto compromised fastener heads, reducing setup time on the job.
Designed for use with standard 1/4 inch hex quick-change impact drivers, power drills, and power screwdrivers accepting 1/4 inch hex shank accessories.
Insert the 1/4 inch hex shank fully into the chuck of the impact driver or drill before operating. Confirm the fastener size matches the 1/2 inch socket before applying power to avoid further fastener damage. Always wear appropriate eye protection when operating impact tools. Follow tool manufacturer torque and speed guidelines for the specific application.
