The GEARWRENCH 84512N is a 1/2 inch drive, 1-1/8 inch SAE impact socket built for use with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric impact wrenches in heavy-duty fastening applications. Manufactured from chromium-molybdenum steel with a black oxide finish, this 6-point standard-length socket measures 1.614 inches overall. The off-corner loading geometry distributes torque away from fastener corners, reducing the risk of rounding under high-torque impact conditions. High-visibility laser-etched markings and secondary hard-stamped size markings allow quick identification in low-light shop environments. Meets ASME B107.2 standards and carries a lifetime warranty from GEARWRENCH.
This socket is suited for automotive, fleet, construction, and industrial maintenance work where 1/2 inch drive impact tooling is the standard. The 1-1/8 inch SAE size covers common fastener dimensions found on suspension components, drivetrain hardware, and structural bolting applications. The standard-length profile fits most impact gun anvils and works in conjunction with 1/2 inch drive extensions and adapters. Licensed mechanics, fleet technicians, and general contractors are the primary users.
Designed as a standard OEM-style 1/2 inch drive impact socket compatible with 1/2 inch drive impact wrenches, ratchets, extensions, and adapters conforming to ASME B107.2 drive dimensions.
Install this socket by pressing it firmly onto the 1/2 inch square drive anvil of the impact tool until the detent ball or retaining pin engages. Verify the socket is fully seated before applying torque. Do not use impact sockets with standard hand-tool ratchets rated only for hand torque, as impact forces exceed hand-tool drive ratings. Inspect the socket for cracks or deformation before each use and remove from service if damage is found.
