The GEARWRENCH 84429N is a 6-point hex drive impact socket designed for high-torque fastening applications in automotive, mechanical, and industrial service environments. Built from chromium-molybdenum steel with a black oxide finish, it is engineered to absorb the shock loads produced by pneumatic, electric, and cordless impact wrenches. The 3/8 inch drive accepts standard 3/8 inch impact drive tools, and the 7/8 inch socket size covers a common SAE fastener range. At 2.48 inches overall length, the socket fits into moderately confined spaces without requiring an extension in most standard applications. Licensed trades and experienced mechanics are the primary installers.
This impact socket is suited for residential and commercial service work, fleet maintenance, and general mechanical repair. The 6-point design concentrates load on the flat faces of the fastener rather than the corners, reducing the risk of rounding on worn or corroded hardware. High-visibility laser-etched size markings and secondary hard-stamped markings make quick size identification straightforward in low-light shop and field conditions. The socket meets ASME B107.2 standards for impact sockets and is rated for SAE applications.
Designed for use with 3/8 inch drive impact wrenches and ratchets rated for impact-duty sockets. Fits standard SAE 7/8 inch hex fasteners. Not intended for use with hand-ratchet-only tools where chrome-finish sockets are the standard recommendation.
Impact sockets should only be used with impact-rated drive tools. Always verify the fastener size matches the socket before applying torque. Inspect the socket for cracks or deformation before each use and remove from service if damage is found. Follow applicable workplace safety guidelines when operating pneumatic or electric impact tools.
