The GENERAL ELECTRIC NF97D070V4BR is a two-stage downflow gas furnace rated at 70,000 BTU/h with a 97% AFUE efficiency rating. It is designed for residential forced-air heating systems where the air handler or coil cabinet is positioned below the furnace in a downflow configuration. The unit supports R454B refrigerant and is rated for up to 4 tons of cooling capacity when paired with a compatible air conditioning or heat pump system. Two-stage operation allows the furnace to run at a lower firing rate during mild conditions, reducing short-cycling and improving comfort. Licensed HVAC technicians perform installation and commissioning.
This furnace is suited for residential applications requiring high-efficiency gas heat in a downflow cabinet orientation. Downflow installations are common in homes where ductwork runs beneath the living space, such as slab-on-grade construction or installations over a crawl space. The 97% AFUE rating qualifies this unit for energy efficiency programs in many jurisdictions. The 4-ton refrigerant circuit compatibility makes it appropriate for matched split systems using R454B refrigerant. Two-stage firing supports better humidity control and more even temperature distribution compared to single-stage units.
Rated for use with R454B refrigerant split systems up to 4 tons. Designed as a downflow gas furnace for residential matched-system installations. Consult system design documentation for compatible coil cabinets and air conditioning equipment.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes and the manufacturer installation instructions. Shut off gas supply and disconnect electrical power before servicing or replacing any furnace components. Downflow installations require a Listed downflow sub-base or coil cabinet rated for use with this unit. Venting must comply with applicable provisions of the IFGC and local authority having jurisdiction.
