The GENERAL ELECTRIC nf96u090s4cr is a single-stage, up-flow and horizontal-flow natural gas furnace rated at 96 percent AFUE, delivering 90,000 BTU/h of heating output in a C-cabinet configuration. At 96 percent AFUE, nearly all fuel consumed is converted to usable heat, keeping operating costs low in demanding residential heating applications. This furnace is sized for a 4-ton system and ships in the C cabinet width, making it compatible with standard duct systems designed around that footprint. Licensed HVAC technicians install and commission this unit as part of split or packaged heating systems.
This furnace is designed for residential installations where up-flow or horizontal-flow configuration is required. The C cabinet designation fits a defined range of duct openings and platform dimensions commonly found in closet, basement, utility room, and attic installations. A 90,000 BTU/h output capacity is well suited for mid-to-large residential structures in moderate to cold climates. The single-stage burner operation provides straightforward control integration with standard thermostats.
Designed as an OEM-style residential gas furnace for up-flow and horizontal-flow duct systems requiring a C cabinet footprint and 90,000 BTU/h single-stage heating capacity.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes, the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), and the manufacturer's installation instructions. Shut off all gas supply and disconnect electrical power before beginning any service or installation work. Proper venting must be designed and installed per applicable code; this is a high-efficiency condensing furnace and requires appropriate condensate drainage. Do not operate the unit before verifying all gas connections are leak-free and all duct connections are sealed.
